Squares is a collaboration between Greg Dowling, Shane Johnson and Andrew Phillpott. Greg and Shane are better known as Fish Go Deep and have released music on labels such as Defected, Large, Innervisions, Local Talk and many more. Andrew also has a long history in the music industry, working with Depeche Mode and Dave Gahan for many years.

The project began as an analogue and modular synth jam in deepest West Cork, growing into more regular sessions and eventually resulting in a series of live shows and an albums worth of recorded music. The debut Squares release came out on acclaimed London label, Freerange, and the trio now follow that up with Speed Syphon, named after a favourite coffee brewing machine in the cafe next door to the studio.

The original mix takes a dusty drone, throbbing bass and some sweet Jupiter-8 licks for a wild ride around the dancefloor. The track ebbs and flows throughout, locking into a heads down groove and not letting go.
The Fish Go Deep remix packs a more straightforward 4/4 punch, nodding to classic Detroit techno while building a powerful momentum. With a bouncing bassline, beefy drums and a stirring string section, this one will work at any time of the night.
